Ancle M. “Dick” Crowe, 101, of Solsberry, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Meadowood Health in Bloomington.  He was born in Calvertsville on August 30, 1915 to Frank and Stella (Knapp) Crowe.  He was a graduate of Solsberry High School.  He served in the United States Army during World War II where he received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and Bronze Star.   Through the years, Ancle had several jobs which included farming, cutting timber, 3 C’s, clerk at the Newark Store and as an ordinance worker at Crane for over 25 years.  He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Pythias, and Fox Hunters Association.  His passions in life were fox chasing and being with his family.

Ancle is survived by his wife of 77 years, Ruby (Allen) Crowe; children, Judith Fountain of Spencer, Michael A. (Kathleen) Crowe of Newark, Debra Crowe of St. Louis, MO, Frank L. (Laura) Crowe of Richmond, VA;  7 grandchildren, Jill Beauchamp, Sharon (Chuck) Wagner, Tracy (Rannix) Tinsley, John (Natalie) Crowe, Sonya Seymour, Steven (Kathryn) Crowe, and Michael Crowe; 10 great grandchildren, Jacob Lee, Riley Seymour, Ethan Beauchamp, Larken Seymour, Tristan Wagner, Nora Wagner, Olivia Tinsley, Cooper Tinsley, Liam Ancle Crowe, Evelyn Ruby Crowe, Virginia Lane Crowe; and nieces and nephews, Jimmie Keith (Rhonda) Crowe, Ronnie (Brenda) Crowe, Larry Crowe, Randy (Linda) Durbin, Jackie Durbin, and Rita (Dave) Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Funeral service will be held 1pm, Monday, July 31, 2017 at West & Parrish Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.  Rev. Raymond New will officiate.  Burial will follow at Newark Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service Monday at the Funeral Home.

Dear Aunt Ruby & all my cousins, I am so heartbroken to hear about Uncle Dick.  I just found out a few minutes ago.  I would have been there if I had known.  He was such a special man!  I will be keeping you all in my prayers.  I miss you all so much and I love you!
