Betty Joyce Farmer, 77, of Cannelburg, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care in Jasper.  She was born March 22, 1940 in Owen County to Owen C. and Katie (Gross) Adkins.  She was a 1958 graduate of Spencer High School and graduated with a nursing degree from Indiana University.  She worked as a nurse at Bloomington Hospital.  She attended Cherry Hill Christian Church in Bloomington.  She enjoyed traveling, photography, and caring for her husband and family.  

Mrs. Farmer is survived by her husband of 40 years, Harry Farmer, son, Jonathan Farmer (Debbie) of Ellettsville, a sister, Virginia Stogsdill- Wood (Paul Wood) of Bloomington, and grandchildren, C.J. Farmer, Brittney Farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Beryl Adkins- Sink, Thurman Adkins, and Billie Adkins.

Funeral service will be held 1pm, Thursday, May  11, 2017 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.  Burial will follow at Gross Cemetery.  

Visitation from 11am until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lesea Broadcasting Inc., in South Bend.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel for you and your family.  Losing a beloved life partner is so very hard and the pain and sorrow you now feel is horrible.   It is true Betty is with the Lord watching over you and your loved ones and one day you will both be together again, pain free and happy once more.
