James B. “J.B.” Jones, 94, of Gosport, passed away May 6, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Owen Valley Health Campus.  He was born November 8, 1922 in Gibbs, KY to James and Bettie (Wagner) Jones.  He served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) during World War II.  After 31 years, he retired from Chevrolet in Indianapolis on October 1, 1978.  After his retirement he continued to operate his business, Jones Excavating, which he enjoyed for the next 34 years.

J.B. is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley (Stwalley) Jones, and his daughters, Linda (Rick) Shields of Spencer and Vickie (Don) Morrison of Spencer, three grandchildren, Shane Morrison of Bloomington, Shelly (Chris) Robertson of Ellettsville, Alicia Limeberry of Spencer, four great grandchildren, Chase Roberts, Keaton Richardson, Cullen Light, and Mackenzie Limeberry.

J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Floyd and Elmer, and sisters, Evelyn, Sarah, Helen, and Ruby.

Funeral service will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.  Burial will follow at Gosport Cemetery.  Military rites will be performed by the Spencer American Legion and VFW Posts.

Visitation will be from 11am until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America.
