Phyllis & family, I am so sorry to learn of Jim's death but I know God received a great man with open arms.  I heard many of Jim's great messages when he ministered to the Solsberry Christian Church.  It was a pleasure to know him and to know you and the family.  May God bless you all.

Phyllis and Leah,
Jim was a part of one of the happiest times and hardest time of my life. He married Chris and I and then 7 years to the day of our wedding rehearsal, he graciously came out of retirement to do Chris's funeral. He was a special man to my family in many ways just not as our minister but as a friend. I will remember him for  the wonderful man he was and his laugh. He will live on happy and healthy in Heaven. Your and your family are in my prayers at this time.

Phyllis and kids--Jim was one of the best ministers and teachers I ever had, and certainly one of the funniest. A lot of what I did on a daily basis were things I saw Jim do at Solsberry, and a lot of what I know about a successful life in the parsonage came from all of you.  The Church was blessed by his service. I remember he often told me that he "knew his funeral would be well attended because everyone likes a good Root bier."

I did not know Jim Root's wife or family, but has seen Jim much through the years in the ministry. I moved to Martinsville, IN in the summer of 1970, & still live here. I am serving with our son, Kevin, at River Valley Christian Church, Sr. Adult Minister & special visitation minister.I lost my wife 3 1/2 years ago, after 62 years of marriage, so I understand the great  loss of a life partner! !
As the Bible says, "A great man has fallen."  TO serve the Lord in so many ways and so long, it shows his dedication and faithful to witness for the Lord Jesus.
I have no question about his faith or relationship with the Lord nor his final destination. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in their Lord. As Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted."  May the Lord bless and sustain you and yours today in every way and all the way, Norman R. Able

To the Root family - I am sorry for your loss.  Looking back, I realize how much I learned from Pastor Root's sermons (and how his humor kept my attention to get the point).  Even though retired, I am glad he was able to participate in my wedding ceremony.
