Lula Ann Essington, 88, of Spencer, formerly of Washington, IL, passed away at her residence Wednesday, March 29, 2017.  She was born in Peoria, Illinois on March 22, 1929 to Dominic and Rose Capranica.  She was a member of Tazwell County Homemakers Extension for 55 years and volunteered at the Washington Illinois Historical Society, St. Patricks Church School, St. Patrick’s Church Women’s Guild, Friends of AIDS, and active with the March of Dimes for 40 years. She retired from Adeline’s Gift Shop and Bergner’s Department Store.  

Lula is survived by her husband of 60 years, Conrad M. Essington, children, Jane Seiwert (Mike) of Spencer, Ronald J. Essington (Julie) of Fishers, sisters, Dorothy Peters (Ed) El Cajon, CA, Eleanor Driscoll of  Peoria, IL, Gloria Murphy of Peoria, IL grandchildren, Ryan Essington (Holly), Erin Kassing (Matthew), Kathleen Seiwert, Steven Seiwert, and Caroline Seiwert.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Kevin M. Essington.

Funeral mass will be held 1pm, Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church.  Father Daniel Mahan will officiate.  

Visitation will be from 11:30am until the time of the mass at the Church.  

Arrangements are with West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 705 E Jefferson St, Washington, IL 61571.

Ron, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom.  I'm sure Your Mom was a wonderful , amazing Woman of God.  Now you have another Angel watching over You. You and Your Family remain in my Prayers. May God Continue to Bless You during this difficult time.

I have good memories of going to Lula & Connie's "new" house in Washington when it was first built, and then taking Aunt Delores there to visit a few years ago.
