John Lewis Steiner, IV, 77 of Spencer, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Owen Valley Health Campus.  He was born in Cedar Grove on February 26, 1940 to John L. and Wilhelmina (Reuss) Stiener, III.  He was a graduate of Springfield Township High School in Brookville and Sacred Heart Seminary in Pymouth. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves.  He worked for 37 years at Ford Motor Company.  John was a member of the Lawrence Masonic Lodge #717 32nd degree (Mystic Circle, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Knights Templar),  St. Michaels in Brookville, Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Knights of Columbus, Indiana Mountain Dulcimer Society, Loom Tribe Wicca, Wise Owls Gardnerian Wicca, Northern Ancestral Runic Fellowship, an ordained Gothi with HofBrau Kindred, Asatru Alliance of Kindreds and Asatru Folk Assembly.  He enjoyed playing the guitar with the trio “Local Option”, bird feeding, and brewing beer and mead.

John is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sharon (Pottgieser) Steiner, children, Daphne Darlene (Doug) Redman of Fayetteville, AR, Juanita Steiner of Indianapolis, Nancy (Jud) Seelye of Columbus, Daniel (Heather) Steiner of Buffalo, WY, John Steiner, V, of Evansville, step children, Ashley (Mujtaba) Al-Qudahi of San Jose, CA, Randall Spannuth of Fillmore, seven brothers, Henry Steiner, Fred Steiner, Edward Steiner, Patrick Steiner, Ronald Steiner, William Steiner, Albert Steiner, a sister, Mary Lou Steiner, an ex-wife Patricia Matson and 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 3pm, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.  Gothi Kim Welch will officiate.  An honoring ceremony will follow at the family home.  

Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mary Lou & family, just learned of John's passing.  I remember seeing him at NML when he came to pick you up.  He called you "Sis".   Thoughts and prayers for you at this time.
